  8. Hi, Although I am not a "Georgia Gray", I am the cousin of some who live in NJ. In fact, I have many memories of Ella Gray Turner, who was actually your kin.

It is somewhat surprising that I got to know her because she was born in the 1800s (i.e., 1890). I am not quite that old, but she lived to be more than 100 years old and didn't die until 1990. Like her ancestor Cassie, she was also very stern, but well loved. In fact, I didn't know that her name was Ella for a very long time. Because she was such a highly respected Mother of her church, we all called her "Sister Ella". To my child's ears that became "Sist'ella" and I thought it was all one word. She was my great aunt's mother-in-law and lived in the same three family building as they did for as far back as I can remember. It wasn't until she was very old that she moved from NJ to California to live with other children. If you want to know more about your cousins, please contact me. BTW: I remember her as being very light skinned and now that I know more about her heritage, I can see why.
